This piece is a poster meant for a hypothetical summer music festival that would coincide with a street art exhibition held by the Museum of Contemporary Art. The original poster was made October 2023 but underwent some minor changes in March 2024.
The purpose of both the music festival and poster are to draw in the younger generations so they may gain a better appreciation of the arts; hence the free admission, food, and drinks. Seeing as the music festival was meant to be a sort of revival of the arts, I chose to theme both the poster and band around zombies with some punk rock elements to tie it into the street art that'd be on exhibit.
Most of my thumbnails centered around the symbolism of a phoenix as opposed to a zombie. The phoenix even made it all the way through the original 2023 design in the form of a fictional band called "Winged Revival." However, both myself and my peers felt there was too much of a disconnect between the phoenix and the rest of the poster- hence the change to full zombie theming.
